Flying to Troncones, Mexico
There is an international airport at Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, about 23 miles from Hotel Troncones. You can fly direct from many cities in the United States. The most common airlines that fly direct are Alaska Airlines, America West, and Continental. It is also very easy to get flights to Mexico City, which is only a 55 minute connecting flight, Aeromexico and Mexicana are the local airlines.
From the airport you can either take a taxi or rent a car to get to our place.
How to take a taxi from the airport
There is a small podium as you get out of customs that says "Ground Transportation". This is the only taxi service from the airport. You pay for the taxi at the podium, take your ticket and go outside, straight ahead, all of the taxi's are right in front. It will be a bit confusing at first, but eventually one of the taxi drivers will grab you and you'll be on your way.
Tell the taxi driver that you are going to "Troncones" and then add "Hotel Troncones" or "Mi Casa Su Casa", they might know our place by name. There is only one road in Troncones so it is impossible to get lost. You will find us! The cost is approximately $50 one way.
Car rental from the airport
For car rental, we recommend Hertz (1-800 654-3131) they aren't the cheapest but they're dependable and their cars can be picked up and dropped off at the airport which will save you on taxi fare each way.
Following are directions on how to get to Troncones and Hotel Troncones:
You are arriving at the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo International airport. We are located approximately 23 miles north. Follow highway 200 north towards Zihuatanejo (stay to the left at the first fork in the highway right out of the parking lot), After about 3-4 miles you will go through a bit of Zihuatanejo go up a big hill, at the top of the hill is an exit for Lazaro Cardenas to the right, take it!
After about 24 Kms or 15 miles you will pass the village of Buena Vista (you have already passed Salitrera and Pantla), continue on for about 6 kilometers (4 miles). After a church on your left, and some bee hives on your right, begin looking on your right for the TRONCONES sign.
Turn left heading towards the ocean for a few miles until you get to the village. The road ends in a “T” intersection. Turn right and you will find us about 100 yards down on the left-hand side, just before a small bridge. The way will be very well marked with signs.
